Early Life and Career

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia was born on May 5, 2003, in El Palmar, Murcia, Spain. He began playing tennis at the age of four and quickly showed remarkable talent. By the age of 15, he had reached the quarterfinals of the junior Wimbledon Championships.

Professional Breakthroughs

Alcaraz made his professional debut in 2020 and quickly rose through the ranks. In 2021, he won his first ATP title at the Rio Open. He continued to impress in 2022, winning the Madrid Open and becoming the youngest player to reach the semifinals of the French Open since Rafael Nadal. In September, he defeated Norway's Casper Ruud to win the US Open at just 19 years old, making him the youngest Grand Slam champion since Nadal in 2005.

Current Ranking and Accolades

As of May 2023, Alcaraz is ranked number one in the ATP rankings. He has won a total of seven ATP titles, including two Masters 1000 events. He is widely considered one of the most promising players in tennis and has been compared to Nadal and Roger Federer.
